| Lake Tahoe. The name evokes so many images of incomparable beauty, from Mark Twain to the present day. How could one resist a visit here? Named one of the “1,000 Places to See Before You Die” in Patricia Schulz’s book of the same name, North America’s highest altitude Alpine lake, is a feast for the eyes, with mountain, forest and lake vistas that are simply breathtaking. Being Over the Hill Gang, International, we, of course, look for the best the lake has to offer – and as usual, we find it on Lake Tahoe’s spectacular North Shore. We stay at the newly renovated Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino in Incline Village, Nevada, which was named by a Conde Nast reader’s poll as one of the top 50 ski resorts in North America. During our stay on the North Shore, we’ll ski a sampling of the nearby ski areas nestled in the High Sierra’s legendary snow clad peak. Each morning we’ll board our charter bus to visit the resort of the day. Mountain guides arranged exclusively for OTHGI Members will orient us to the mountain at each ski area. Squaw Valley: We’ll ski two days at this extraordinary resort, which boasts huge acreage, the most advanced lift network in the U.S. and some of the deepest snow in the world! Alpine Meadows: Named in Skiing Magazine’s 2007 Resort Guide as one of the country’s best mountains. Mt. Rose: The highest base elevation in the Tahoe Basin, with a down-home, low-key atmosphere. Northstar: An average annual snowfall of 350 inches, as well as the largest snowmaking system of any resort on the North Shore. Back at the hotel and at other locations around the North Shore, we’ll have breakfast daily, dinners, hospitality hours and, of course, the legendary camaraderie that comes with a Gang Trip. There will also be a day open for you to explore another area or return to one you liked via the free shuttle from the hotel.
