It’s the middle of the season, you’re in the groove, and you’re ready for Crested Butte. This time of year, the snow is terrific and Crested Butte is ready for you! Crested Butte, Colorado, is definitely off the beaten path. You expect, and get, uncrowded slopes and short lift lines. You also get nice, rolling groomers and steep, narrow mogul fields. Crested Butte may be known for extreme skiing, but in reality, the trails are mostly intermediate. It’s definitely worth the trouble to get there. Once you’re there, you’ve really gotten away from it all. Located within the Gunnison National Forest, Crested Butte is the real deal – truly a part of the Wild West. However, the new owners have made many changes over the last two years and the Butte is getting on the map! Our accommodations at the Grand Lodge are convenient for skiing, dining, and entertainment. Our newly renovated studio rooms are slope side in the heart of the ski village, with the lifts only a short walk away. There’s also a free shuttle to the historic town of Crested Butte, with its restaurants, galleries and, of course, shopping. The welcome dinner is a chance to relax and meet the others. Our trip host will explain how the skiing and social events will be organized. The next morning, we have breakfast together, form our ski groups, meet our mountain guides, and head up the slopes. The guides will show our ski groups around the wonderful, wide-open terrain of Mount Crested Butte with spectacular views of the Elk Mountain wilderness. After the exhilaration of daily skiing, the hospitality hours are times for swapping stories and making plans for the evening. The social agenda includes a mid-week dinner together in town, and the farewell dinner provides a fun ending to the trip. The OTHGI trip host serves as master of ceremonies for the events and will work to make sure everything flows smoothly. All of this is to ensure you have a comfortable, worry-free trip in a beautiful out-of-the-way corner of Colorado.
"Please make this an annual event! A hidden gem of a resort!"
