Sun Valley

Idaho

January 19-26, 2008

A visit to Sun Valley today reflects a unique homage to the past. The quaint ski village, the collection of vintage celebrity photographs, the Duchin Room with Big Band era music, and the daily showing of "Sun Valley Serenade" are all reminders of "the way it was." However, Sun Valley in central Idaho surely proves its existence in today’s world with its accommodations, mountain lodges and skiing. Whether you stay at the Lodge or Inn, the rooms are beautifully appointed. The buildings are original (no two rooms are alike), but completely modernized and restored. You’ll step back to an elegant time. Upon arrival, we’ll meet our Trip Hosts and fellow skiers at a welcome dinner, where we can visualize the skiing to come., At Sun Valley… "The mountain spoils you," one well-traveled OTHGI skier contends, "with its gorgeous base lodges, best service anywhere, the best on-mountain food, and bowls that outdo Vail's." Here they make snow as well or better than any mountain in the world, and they take excellent care of what they have. Dollar Mountain is the ideal place for novices, but Mt. Baldy is the star. It's a skier's mountain, with 3,600 vertical feet of "perfect pitch" to suit the fantasies of skiers of any shape and size. It's this simple: If you have never skied Baldy at speed, banking off the sides of runs like Canyon and Warm Springs that follow the natural drainages, you have never really skied. After skiing, there are many choices. Two special OTHGI meals are planned: a sleigh ride dinner at Trail Creek Cabin, and a "fond farewell" dinner in the Lodge Dining Room. After the OTHGI events, whether you prefer the Duchin Room at the Lodge for dancing, or the lobby bar at the Inn, where you can gather with friends to chat, or the world’s largest hot tub, you’ll find the perfect spot for après ski. Join us for Prime Time! You’ll have a whole week of skiing where seniors make up most of the skiers on the mountain, along with special parties, races and nostalgic music. It is called Prime Time for good reason.
