There’s no doubt about it, the vast amount of fantastic skiing is what makes Vail one of the most popular resorts in North America. All the rest is icing on the cake.
The sky’s the limit at Vail. Whether smooth corduroy is your choice, or you prefer bowls or glades,
you will experience sheer bliss. The front side of the mountain boasts 1,627 acres with more than 127 trails from beginner to intermediate terrain. The back bowls are an awesome 3,017 acres and stretch for seven miles, offering as many intermediate to expert runs as you have time for. And did we mention Blue Sky Basin? Another 645 acres of glades and natural terrain tucked into the wilderness away from the sights and sounds of civilization. Folks, that’s 5,289 acres of terrain spread out over 193 trails!
We would also be remiss if we forgot to mention that Vail Resorts is the second largest corporate purchaser of 100 percent wind power energy in the USA. This is truly a mover and shaker in the ski industry.
And if that isn’t enough to tempt you, read on. Vail has one of the finest collections of world-renowned restaurants in the west. One-of-a-kind shops are located all over the village and the Ski Museum is not to be missed! The entire history of U.S. skiing is there.
To make your trip complete, we have chosen to return to Marriott Mountain Resort as your home for the week. The Marriott Mountain Resort is a superb property in the heart of Lionshead, and is sure to become a favorite of OTHGI members for its warm hospitable staff, comfortable rooms, good food and super location a short walk away from the Eagle Bahn
gondola. The rooms are luxuriously appointed and very tastefully decorated.
Complete spa facilities at the Golden Leaf Spa are available to treat you,
and the Avalanche Pub is a wonderful place to unwind. The Ocotillo
Restaurant also offers award-winning cuisine in a relaxed setting.
Our week will begin with a welcome dinner so we can all get acquainted.
Our local Over the Hill Gang, Int’l volunteer guides will join us for
breakfast the first morning before heading off to explore the mountain. Vail
is an annual Over the Hill Gang, Int’l tradition, beginning in 1985. Come
join us and see why!
