ISLAND HOPPING BIKE AND SAIL DENMARK / June 30 - July 10, 2012 CALL
Join us for the first-ever OTHGI trip to Denmark, the land of Hans Christian Andersen, the gorgeous islands of the Danish South Sea, and end in Scandinavia's fun capital of Copenhagen and a farewell evening out in Tivoli Gardens.
We meet up in Hamburg, famous as one of Germany's most important cities and renowned as the place where the Beatles got their start on the infamous Reeperbahn.
We head North to the Baltic with a stop for lunch and a tour en route of the fabulous Hanseatic city of Lubeck, before boarding our schooner, the Flying Dutchman late Saturday afternoon in the German port of Holtenau.
Sunday morning we begin our week's adventure sailing around the fairy-tale lands of the Danish Baltic Sea, riding through charming villages with magnificent manor houses, thatched-roof farm houses, prehistoric bogs and herds of wild horses... and with some luck, we'll get to try a few Danish waffles along the way if our rides are vigorous enough!
We end our journey in the storied city of Copenhagen and a visit to the Little Mermaid in the harbor, and bid a fond farewell to all with a scrumptious dinner in lovely Tivoli Gardens in the heart of this breathtaking metropolis.

HIKE ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK / September 7-14, 2012
- It's called the Roof of America.
- One-third of the park Is above timberline.
- 71 peaks tower more than 13,000 feet high.
- The highest continuous paved road in the country.
- The highest peak in the lower 48, north of I-70, Longs Peak at 14,255 feet.
- Yet, we will sleep every night at 7,500 feet.
Ever wanted to walk down from the top of the world? We will, on the Old Ute Trail which starts at an elevation of 12,155 feet and descends to 10,700 feet over six miles. Other hikes will weave up rocky ridges, over alpine tundra, past high-mountain lakes, and through aspen groves, spruce forests, and meadows. It will be a great sampling of the Heart of the Rockies.
At the end of the day, we will return to the Alpine Trail Ridge Inn located near the south entrance to the Park. The Inn and the Sundeck Restaurant located on the property have been independently owned and operated for over 50 years. And, the Inn is consistently ranked near the top for lodging in Estes Park.

A new idea and offer for OTHGI for 2012 - Trek and Sail. Following up on the success of the Bike and Sail concept that has been so well received by the membership, we are using a charming Turkish gullet, the Deriya Deniz, to sail around the spectacular Bay of Naples and the Amalfi Coast with van supported walks from village to village and around the region's rolling hills and valleys.
Storied names that we will visit on our walks include Pompeii, Sorrento, Amalfi, Salerno, Positano, and ending with the breathtaking islands of Capri and Ischia before returning to our base near Naples. This promises to be a journey like no other, with stunning seascapes and landscapes that will transport your senses.
We end in Rome for two nights, just enough time for all to get reacquainted with the eternal city, or for any first-time visitors to get to know the wonders of this ancient metropolis.

Experience the spectacular beauty of the Hawaiian Islands on this island-hopping journey around the 3 central islands of the archipelago, Maui, Lanai and Molokai. Each with a vastly different character, look and feel, from the other-worldliness of Maui's Haleakala Volcano and a lush paradise ride along the Garden of Eden that is the Road to Hana, to the alluring seclusion and arid splendor of Lanai, formerly the Pineapple Island now known as the Private Island, to the immense beauty and towering sea cliffs of Molokai, the tallest on the planet, you'll wonder at the variety of the 50th State of the USA.
